A warm and highly educated family based in Kensington is seeking an experienced Weekend Governess / Educational Nanny / Mentor to support their 9-year-old daughter.
Role Overview
This is a wonderful opportunity for a confident, engaging and educationally focused candidate to join a formal, fully staffed household. The family has four children; however, this position is dedicated specifically to their 9-year-old daughter, who is currently preparing for her 11+ exams.
The family is looking for someone who can provide thoughtful academic guidance while also acting as a positive role model and companion. The ideal candidate will be warm, encouraging and able to make learning enjoyable, while helping to build the child’s confidence, independence and enthusiasm for education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide educational support, particularly with English homework, reading and 11+ preparation.
Act as a positive role model, mentor and companion.
Encourage curiosity, confidence and positive study habits in an engaging and age-appropriate way.
Accompany the child to weekend activities, groups and classes.
Support and encourage the child’s interests outside of academics.
Assist with light practical tasks relating to the child and her weekend routine, such as preparing a snack or helping to unload the dishwasher when required.
Work collaboratively and professionally alongside other household staff.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working with children of a similar age is essential.
Strong academic ability and confidence supporting 11+ preparation.
Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to encourage reading and support homework.
A confident driver is essential; a car will be provided while on duty.
Professional, discreet and comfortable working within a formal, fully staffed household.
Warm, proactive, flexible and genuinely interested in supporting the child’s development.
A musical background would be advantageous, as the child has a keen interest in music.

Hours & Accommodation
The working days are Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00am until approximately 8:00/9:00pm.
Ideally, the successful candidate will already be based in London and will not require accommodation. However, for the right person, a flat close to the family home can be provided for Saturday evening.
Salary
£45,000–£60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
