To register, you’ll need an up-to-date CV, at least two recent references, a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, and a DBS check. We’ll also ask for proof of qualifications and identification.
-
Yes. At Burlington Nannies we meet every candidate in person before registration. Each one-hour interview allows us to assess their skills, qualifications, and childcare philosophy, as well as their views on nutrition, discipline, and child development. This ensures we can recommend not only the most qualified but also the best personality fit for your family.
-
Nannies provide day-to-day childcare, focusing on routines, meals, activities, and overall wellbeing.
Governesses are professional educators, often with teaching qualifications, who focus on education, tutoring, and cultural development.
Maternity Nurses specialise in newborn care, supporting parents in the first weeks with feeding, routines, and recovery after birth.
-
A live-in Nanny should have her own bedroom and bathroom. In some cases, families offer separate accommodation outside the main house for added privacy. We also recommend that “house rules” are discussed and agreed upon before the start date to ensure clear expectations for everyone.
-
We strongly recommend a written contract between Nanny and Employer covering hours, duties, salary, and holidays. Typical working hours are 10–12 per day, five days a week. Live-in Nannies usually include one or two nights of babysitting per week, while daily Nannies are paid extra for this. Holiday entitlement is usually at least four weeks of paid leave, plus Bank Holidays off or paid in lieu.
-
Maternity Nurses can be booked for 1–12 weeks (or longer if needed), usually working 5–6 days per week and on call 24 hours with daily breaks. They are self-employed and paid directly, with rates typically ranging from £300–£600 per day for a single baby (higher for twins or multiples).
-
Yes. Burlington Nannies has over 20 years’ experience placing candidates both in the UK and abroad. Many families, particularly those overseas, are looking for British or bilingual professionals with strong childcare and educational backgrounds.
