Burlington Nannies is seeking an educated, professional and highly experienced Rota Nanny/Governess or Manny/Governor for a returning client based in Kensington.
The family also has a countryside residence, where they spend school holidays, with occasional travel to other destinations.
This is a two-week-on, two-week-off rotation, with working hours of approximately 6:00am–8:30pm while on duty. A separate two-bedroom apartment, located approximately five minutes from the family home, is provided during working weeks.
The Children
The successful candidate will be predominantly responsible for a 7-year-old boy. On occasion, you may also have brief responsibility for his siblings, aged 4 and 9. The family also has an 18-month-old child.
The children enjoy a balanced and stimulating upbringing. Their interests include chess, games, musical instruments and learning additional languages. After-school tutors are also employed to support their education.
The Role
You will take responsibility for all aspects of the 7-year-old's day-to-day care, routine, organisation and educational support.
Responsibilities will include:
Supporting the morning routine, including washing, dressing and breakfast
Completing school runs
Diary and wardrobe management
Organising playdates, activities and outings
Encouraging good manners, social skills and positive behaviour
Supporting homework and educational development
Liaising with teachers and tutors as required
Managing general children's administration
Providing confident and structured 11+ preparation and support
Overseeing mealtimes
Managing the evening and bedtime routine
Encouraging reading and age-appropriate educational activities
The household is fully staffed and operates as a collaborative team. Housekeepers take responsibility for the children's laundry, and a private chef prepares the family's meals. Cooking is therefore not required, although you will be expected to heat prepared food when necessary and oversee the children's mealtimes.
The Candidate
This is a demanding role for a highly organised, energetic and capable childcare professional who can confidently manage busy and active days.
The family is ideally seeking a native English speaker, as English is not their first language. Excellent spoken and written English is therefore particularly important.
You must:
Be educated to degree level
Have substantial professional childcare experience
Have proven experience supporting school-aged children
Be confident providing 11+ exam preparation and educational support
Be a confident and experienced driver
Have excellent organisational and communication skills
Be comfortable working within a formal, fully staffed household
Work collaboratively with parents, tutors and other household staff
Demonstrate discretion, professionalism and a genuine commitment to a long-term career in private childcare
A recognised teaching qualification would be highly advantageous. Please note that TEFL qualifications alone will not meet the family's educational requirement.
The parents are communicative and take a strong, active interest in their children's lives while allowing the professionals around them to carry out their roles effectively.
