An Outstanding Opportunity in the Cayman Islands
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, fully qualified teacher to join a private family in the beautiful Cayman Islands, providing personalised home education and mentorship to their bright, sociable and entrepreneurial 13-year-old son.
Offering a generous tax-free salary, private accommodation and an enviable Caribbean lifestyle, this is a particularly rewarding position for an educator who is passionate about making a genuine difference in a young person's life.
The family is seeking far more than a traditional tutor. They are looking for an engaging, confident and inspiring teacher who can build a strong connection with their son, restore his enthusiasm for learning and guide him towards academic success.
Their son is an intelligent, outgoing young teenager with a lively personality, a strong interest in business and a natural curiosity about the world around him. He has dyslexia and ADHD and thrives when learning is creative, practical and tailored to his individual strengths.
The right candidate will recognise his potential, understand his challenges and have the teaching expertise and personality to help him flourish.
The Role
This is a full-time, one-to-one home education position, with responsibility for creating and delivering a structured, engaging and individualised academic programme.
Working with either the British or American curriculum, the successful candidate will assess his current academic abilities, identify any gaps in his learning and establish a realistic, progressive educational plan.
The primary focus will be strengthening his foundations in English and Mathematics while ensuring he develops the knowledge, confidence and qualifications required to progress successfully through high school.
The family is particularly interested in an educator who understands that meaningful learning extends beyond textbooks.
With their son's enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and business, there is an opportunity to bring education to life through practical activities involving finance, technology, artificial intelligence, problem-solving and real-world business concepts.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver a personalised home education programme suited to his academic level and learning style.
Strengthen English, literacy, comprehension, written communication and Mathematics.
Implement effective, evidence-informed teaching strategies to support dyslexia and ADHD.
Identify learning gaps and develop achievable academic goals.
Prepare him for future examinations and high school qualifications.
Introduce practical learning opportunities involving business, financial literacy, technology and AI.
Establish consistent routines, clear expectations and appropriate boundaries.
Encourage independent thinking, organisation, concentration and study skills.
Build confidence, resilience and a positive relationship with education.
Act as a trusted mentor and positive role model.
Maintain regular communication with the parents regarding academic progress and personal development.
Incorporate outdoor activities and practical experiences into learning where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
The family would love to meet an accomplished educator who combines excellent teaching credentials with warmth, confidence and a naturally engaging personality.
Essential Requirements:
A recognised teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, BEd or equivalent.
Proven experience supporting children with dyslexia and ADHD.
Strong teaching ability in English and Mathematics.
Experience with the British or American curriculum.
The ability to assess individual learning needs and develop structured educational programmes.
A confident, patient and adaptable teaching style.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to establish clear boundaries and maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
A genuine interest in working with teenagers and supporting their development.
Previous experience in private home education, one-to-one tuition or helping children overcome educational gaps would be particularly advantageous.
Personality Is Everything
The family is looking for someone who can balance academic professionalism with an approachable, encouraging and engaging personality.
Their son is confident, sociable, energetic and strong-willed. He enjoys interacting with others and responds best to adults who are confident in themselves, consistent in their approach and able to earn his respect.
The successful candidate will be firm but fair, engaging without losing structure, and supportive while maintaining clear expectations.
They should be someone who can make learning enjoyable, recognise when a different approach is needed and inspire a sense of achievement.
Above all, the family would value a positive role model who can become a trusted adult in their son's life, providing guidance, encouragement and mentorship alongside his academic education.
